Hi John,
Have spent a very enjoyable afternoon reading your blog instead of fixing up our economic efficiency interim report. When the papers rip us to shreds tomorrow it'll be all your fault. Haven't laughed so much in ages! I've just forwarded the link to Richard.

PS I own a Labradoodle

Excellent- delighted to contribute in my own small way to the fall of the Union. And hooray for labradoodles! I know someone who once thought she'd made the word up, as a joke. She came in all excited and said: 'Listen! If you crossed a labrador with a poodle... you could call it a labradoodle!!' To which her friend replied '...Yes. They do. They're very useful as guide dogs for people with allergies.' It sort of took the edge off the joke.

That is a great poster. If only Athena still existed.

Since when did Athena not exist?

And how did I not notice its passing?

And where am I supposed to get hold of that poster of a half naked man cradling a baby with most of the picture in black and white but just a tiny blue object in colour?

I never wanted that poster before, but now that I've heard Athena's gone - well, I just sort of wish I'd thought about buying it when there was still the opportunity.

I just stumbled across this post and I can assure you you're bringing happiness to me as well, even if I'm not one of your friends. (Though I wish I were.)
Your face in that picture is absolutely priceless. :)
