Trouser bugles.

I wonder if there will ever come a time when I am so blase about staying in hotels that I am no longer delighted by: i) the existence of the trouserpress; ii) the first and last panels in the series of pictures illustrating the use of the trouserpress:

...or iii) the fact that the German for trouserpress is apparently 'Hosenbügler'?

I think not.

  1. Nice that the bulky trouser press seems to fold down to fit in your briefcase..... for use about town maybe.

The day I stop being excited by seeing a trouser press in a hotel will be a very sad day indeed... R

  5. It's the mini kettle that gets me.

I have considered buying a mini kettle of my own, but I'm afraid that will take the shine off of hotel stays for me. Some luxuries need to remain luxurious.

Thanks for teaching me a new word of my mother tongue as English has taken over most of my brain in recent years ;-)

Ross, unfortunately the translation of "hamburger press" is just "Hamburger Presse" - personally, I think "Hambügler" would be better purely for the weak pun.

  12. Oh, I haven't even been aware of such thing! But I am a poor student after all, sleeping at friend's places and not having any bugles on my trousers ;)

Can't believe you haven't seen Bill Bailey's second Kraftwerk tribute song, featuring Der Hosenbugler. It was on Tinselworm. In fact it is on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mdi69xNXAM&feature=player_detailpage#t=144s

  18. There's a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band called Trouser Press, about a trouser press, played on a trouser press:

Another Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band song, Busted, includes the line "blowing his trousers like a bugle".

    Coincidence?!
