John Finnemore's Flying Visit.

17th May - Brighton - Brighton Dome
18th May - High Wycombe - Wycombe Swan
20th May - Hastings - White Rock Theatre
21st May - Preston - Guild Hall
22nd May - York - Grand Opera House
26th May - Cheltenham - Cheltenham Town Hall
30th May - Birmingham - New Alexandra Theatre
3rd June - Richmond - Richmond Theatre SOLD OUT
3rd June - Richmond Extra Matinee Date
6th June - Swindon - Wyvern Theatre
7th June - Leamington Spa - Royal Spa Centre
8th June - Tunbridge Wells - Assembly Hall Theatre
10th June - Dorking - Dorking Halls
13th June - Basingstoke - Basingstoke Anvil
15th June - Edinburgh - The Queen's Hall SOLD OUT

Update: Hooray, Richmond sold out, so we're putting in an extra Matinee there! Be warned - and I promise this isn't just hype - several of the other dates are almost sold out too.

Update to the update: Edinburgh's sold out now, too. I think Leamington and possibly Basingstoke will do soon as well, in case that's useful to know.

oh John, please bring the travelling lemon to Belfast? Why no Belfast?

John Finnemore said...

Would you like the dull-but-true answer? Because the travel costs for cast and crew (we have to drive; we've got too much stuff to bring to fly) make the break-even point too high to risk. There. Bet you wish you hadn't asked now.

But... if this tour sells well enough that we can be confident next time that we can fill a big enough theatre in Belfast that we probably won't lose money, we'd love to come! So... your best plan for ensuring we come to Belfast (Or Wales, or East Anglia, or the South West, or most of Scotland) one day is quite obviously to buy half a dozen or so tickets for this tour, even if you can't use them. Think of it as an investment. Oh, and buy them for Hastings. We're not really feeling the love yet in Hastings... :)

dull, but honest! cheers. You say Hastings, i think Poirot.

I'm excited for Cheltenham! Also I keep seeing adverts for a pre-show dinner thing before the cheltenham show but I can't seem to identify what it is - is it something you know about? Am I hallucinating?

I was on a train yesterday and the announcement came over the tannoy "Would the Train Manager please contact the Train Driver" - I think the other passengers may have thought I was going to expire from the ensuing coughing fit!!

Will you be at the fringe in any capacity? I consider you to be the greatest living comedy writer (and I know at least 7) and would love to get a chance to see and hear you live.

John, I'm really shocked and disappointed to see that you are coming nowhere in the East Midlands! Why are Nottingham/Derby being ignored? I could travel to Sheffield, or even Buxton (a super venue) - but you are coming nowhere near us .
Please give those of us in this cultural desert some hope!

Comedy club interview, 9th April. John F is the new shakespeare, who knew? He's writing all the material for an established company of players, writing with specific actors in mind. All that's missing is a boy dressed as a girl dressed as a boy dressed as a girl dressed as a boy...

Please come to Hull! City of Culture and all that - how can you resist? No need to fly (not even in Gertie).

Wish you were coming to Huddersfield.

I'd come to York if it didn't clash with my interview at the BBC for the Radiophonic Workshop

Do you think at any point, whilst York is indeed quite close (in relation to, say, Mars), you might head to Leeds or better still Otley or Ilkley?

Oh, I wish you were coming to Cambridge/East Anglia! My son was reprimanded by his teacher for quoting you in a story he wrote recently - he's 8, and hero worships you, so if you are ever near us, we will have to come and see you!

VICTIM OF SCAMS BUT NOW A VICTOR THROUGH JOSH LOANS FINANCIAL SERVICE joshloancompany@gmail.com OR +1(215)-874-8060

Helen Truong is my name from 1731 Hilltop Haven Drive, Red Bank, NJ 07701 USA. It lifts my heart to actually use this medium to save innocent people who would have fallen into the wrong hands in quest to obtain an online loan. With all humility I want to personally warn all online loan seekers to be very careful while trying to get a loan, because it is no news that scammers are rampant everywhere all over the internet claiming to offer loan. I was a victim before now and I solemnly hope that you are a victor if you care to take my word of advise. Few months ago I was financially strained, and due to my desperation I was scammed by several online lenders. All hope was nearly lost until a co-employee suggested 'JOSH LOANS FINANCIAL SERVICE' an online reliable and trustworthy lender for me, as I was almost at the edge of taking my life considering a loss of about $83,000; As God would have it, I applied for a loan from 'Josh Loans Financial Service' under Cynthia's (co-employee) recommendation and WOW in less than 72 working hours I got a credit alert confirming that my account has been credited with the loan fund of $220,000.00 which i originally requested. If after loosing much God has shown me light with the help of 'JOSH LOANS FINANCIAL SERVICE', you too without doubt can as well obtain a loan from this reputable lending institution. IN ALL, if you, your relation or any closed person desperately need a loan, DO CONTACT or help that soul to communicate with JOSH LOANS FINANCIAL SERVICE via email on joshloancompany@gmail.com OR text/call them on +1(215)-874-8060

Please John! Think of us in the South West, totally ignored & abandoned... any chance of an extra date in, say, Plymouth? Even Exeter will do - am happy to travel x

Will there be programmes for sale at these shows? I'd really like one to keep, you know, as a memento.

More West Country please! Come to Bath! This is a great venue:

Failing that, a Bristol gig would be great.

Too shy to linger at stage door but now safely back home from weird High Wycombe.. Thanks to all of the cast for such a good show - the atmosphere was really brilliant. Another thankyou for (potentially, it's early days) curing me of my lateness. It had actually never occurred to me that it is simply rude (and I hate being rude) before the latest series of JFSP. Thanks all round!

PS - didn't notice the wardrobe malfunction from row G, you could have got away with it!!

I was at the Dome on Thursday and absolutely LOVED it. I was soooo happy you sang Red Trousers that I let out what I hope wasn't too-audible a gasp.
And the song about Elgar and his dogs *cough* was brilliant! I flew over from Dublin to see the show and I may just do it again before the tour ends.

Just want to say thankyou for a great show last night. You have a rare talent and your shows have always brought a smile to my face. It was great to see the cast last night and to be so close to someone I admire. Your enthusiasm is infectious and I really wished I could have seen some live recordings of your shows as I can just imagine what it must have been like.

Looking forward to more shows with John Finnemore in the title :)

The big question of course is where Patsy Straightwoman will get the biggest cheer. I do have to say that we set the bar really quite high in Cheltenham....

I loved seeing you all live in Brum. What a lovely cast you are spending lots of time with the people who came to see you at the stage door! I came with my friend, who was until then less obsessed than me and found my ability to enhance some of the sketches by delivering the next line more irritating than helpful but found my being struck dumb upon seeing you in person very amusing. Only struck dumb because I've realised I now speak fluent Finnemore, so a was about to say something like 'I am your biggest fan' or 'Brilliant' which obviously makes me appear like a comedy genius... Thank you for the laughs.

Dammit I didn't even know about Edinburgh, which is the only one I could get to. I shall go into a massive sulk, only to be alleviated by listening to all my favourite Cabin Pressure episodes in one sitting.

Good evening, everyone!

I wanted to post a project I've been working on for the past couple of months. It's a short film that's based entirely on John's incredible work. If any of you would like to have a watch, feel free to click on the link below!

Thank you for inspiring me. I hope you enjoy!

John, I hope you have been able to record one and the DVD will be available. Loved you at Royal Tonbridge Wells and would love to see it again and again, perhaps in red trousers.

Brilliant show in Basingstoke (Basingstoke IS the worst - I’m from Reading!), and now sitting in the car listening to series 7 (“not you Tuba, you’re fine”) and what should pull up alongside but a yellow car..... coincidence? serendipity? You decide...

A colleague was meant to be coming to the Basingstoke show on Wednesday, she was eight and a half months pregnant. I was concerned that she might laugh into labour. I looked out for her at the interval but no pregnant women around.

I discovered today she had the baby Wednesday morning. So, whilst she is sorry she missed you, Mr Finnemore, she does have a rather lovely baby boy to show for it, name of Felix.

John and cast, I thoroughly enjoyed last night's Edinburgh Flying Visit. That's some high quality and good value entertainment. Superbly crafted new twists on classic Finnemore favourites, with great audience participation.

It was... well there surely has to be a one word encapsulation of just how good it was that I'll think of soon!

Many thanks, and more as soon as you can, please.

...and now that the tour is over, that leaves it clear to discuss films with Armando Iannucci.

The previous email highlights some excellent news - what a combination of writing and production talent.

Talking of talent - love the drawings in JFFV, I assume they were yours. Lovely stuff.

The Edinburgh show was great. Brilliant collection of sketches. Just one thing that puts you up there with late great Ken Dodd who made the same mistake, there are no mayors in Scotland. You should have been talking to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh.
