Of course, the big question here is, is it a deliberate joke? Because if so, it's quite amusing, but not much more. But something about the choice of III rather than II makes me hope that it it isn't. That this guy has or has had three massive yachts: the One&Only, the One&Only II, and the One&Only III. Because you've got to have a system.
Please let this be true.
But I'm sure he used this: http://www.pridemarine.com/index.cfm?category=11238%7C10013&product=6485344&code=062391060964
ReplyDeleteI'll be off then ...
Anyone who has a hundred and eleven attempts at making the same joke is some sort of hero, surely.
ReplyDeleteClearly this one is named in honour of his third wife.
ReplyDeleteDave beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteIt just so happens the Fourth is in storage, and he loaned the Fifth to a distant relative. The First is in repair, and the Second...oh, you don't wanna know what happened to the Second...
ReplyDeleteI think One & Only I went to his first wife and One & Only II clearly went to the second wife. And as you snapped the picture his third wife was busy making arrangments to take One & Only III...poor guy!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness. This is, quite frankly, a classic. I love things that are obviously either a product of stupidity or oblivion.
ReplyDeleteOne and only III. I wonder if the sign maker did that one for free.
ReplyDeleteI love discovering boat names. I have seen some great ones!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it could be a cousin of this one :)
ReplyDeleteKeep the good bloggin'
Chuckling over here in Canada... Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewonder if the owner gets weekend visits to the jetskis of number 1 and number 2...
ReplyDeletewhat going on, there definitely are not a lot of one and only III around. so, maybe it's the only one like this.
ReplyDeleteHaha. That's funny. I've come across some amusing boat names but this is one of the best.
ReplyDeleteoh dear, this is a bit of a cheesy name isnt it... :-D
ReplyDeleteOr a hotel chain.....
ReplyDeleteFound your blog off Blogs of Note, and can't stop reading! This post is particularly hilarious.

I really like that you managed in your title to get a shot in at all the members of the unwashed (who seem especially prevalent on the Home Improvement TV channels) who imagine that uniqueness an be relative. And I am guessing that the boat owner is not joking - boat people seem to find humor only in bad puns and bragging. If versions I and II of his boat are destroyed the name is technically correct, and passengers are well-advised to be wary of any proffered boat rides with the owner. Well, of course, this is if this boat was also custom-built and no copies exist.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love it!
ReplyDeleteOne and Only III. Probably all in one or for morning, noon, and night.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the valentines cards proclaiming "you are the only one" - sold in packs of 5
ReplyDeletewell, did you find out it was true?
