  3. So what came before wrapped bread, one wonders?

Messrs. BURNS and CRUST, Purveyors of FINE BREAD to the Gentry, beg to inform the Publick of the following TIDINGS in Relation to the Aforementioned Product. Henceforth shall all BREAD purveyed by the Gentlemen named in the aforegoing be WRAPPED in paper of the most EXQUISITE & RARE QUALITY. It is the Considered Opinion of the worthy Gentlement that such Innovation represents & constitutes the GREATEST ADVANCE in the Craft of Breadmaking since the Conception of the Addition of FLOUR to the Dough.

  9. Really though, the best thing since sliced and wrapped bread is the coming 4th season of Cabin Pressure.

Found the wife listening to it this morning. Her reason? We failed to listen to it last knight at bed time like we've been doing for months. She was going through withdrawal!

  10. (By the way, I spelled knight instead of night on purpose. It's your turn for that honor Mr. Fennimore!)

  13. I see it was posed what came before wrapped bread?

Surely thats and easy one. Unwrapped bread of course.

And to go completely off topic- would there be any chance of getting a video done of a recording of one of the eps of Cabin Pressure that can be put online for those of us who might not make it?

    Just a thought.

Wrapped bread, sliced or not was a health and safety hazard. We used to use the waxed paper on the slide at the playground. Just sit on it, waxed side down, for a few slides, then the whole stretch was as slippery as ice. I once went down head first. Bad idea. I was digging grit out of my knees for days.

BTW Benedict has been tipped for the next Star Trek film. Can't see him doing much more Radio 4. Tom Goodman-Hill, come on down!

In light of this revelation, may I suggest the BMB should consider combing the old with the new and introducing the wrapped slice!

  17. Did you know baking was the first job that got went professional? Could even be the worlds oldest profession... Seems about a day after the invention of bread, someone said "Well I love it, but it's a bit of a pill to make", and someone volunteered to make it for everyone. Twelve hours later we had the invention of Quid Pro Quo!

Just watching the crocodiles swooping through Reading's sky before roosting in crocodilopolis for the night.

Really enjoyed 'The Unbelievable Truth' tonight.

  20. Sliced bread? I wondered how scandalous people thought the change was back then . . . I mean, the bread is all exposed now without the brown crust to shade it from prying eyes. Is that why those special grain breads still come in plastic wrapping? They're the "shy breads". :-P
