Nearly time to get dressed...

Merry Christmas!

Simon, Lawry and I did a silly thing for Radio 4's comedy advent calendar, which you can find here . Have a listen to the others, too- there's some great stuff on it.

I also wrote the one which will go out on Christmas Eve morning, read by none other than Julie Walters! I know! (Warning - it will be fairly baffling if you're not a Radio 4 listener. It's pretty in-jokey.)

Anyway, hope you have a great holiday - perhaps even an unforgettable one, if someone close to you has been to this shop:

That's right. Give someone a Christmas they'll never forget… through the magic of socks.

Though, to be fair...if I spent £18 on a single pair of socks, I wouldn't forget it too quickly...

  2. Mr. Finnemore;

Your Advent Calendar episode was stellar.

Thanks for all the great laughs this year, and we're hoping for more to come in 2014 and beyond.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dobby would be super happy with a sock...

Ahem, I think I also heard a female voice in your latest sketch (I can't tell if it's Carrie Quinlan or Margaret Cabourn-Smith, it's too short, but I think it's one of them) but no credit for her?!

It's the "tadaaa" bit, I'm sure that's not Lawry or Simon?

Hello! Would someone mind putting the sketch on YouTube? I've been unable to hear it in the States.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, peaceful, and successful New Year.

  8. RATS! I can't seem to listen to any of the Advent Calendar. Is it because I'm in the USA?

IF I can get it work, I'm sure it will be the best Christmas present this year! the only thing better would be the next Cabin Pressure episode. Oh well, something to look forward to in the new year.

    Merry Christmas, John!

(Yes, it's sad. I don't get out much. Can you tell?)

  9. Thank you for the alternate link, Shappeybunny!

The Advent Calendar ep fractured me. I shall listen to the others later today.

I'd actually find a nice pair of socks to be remarkable, but that's because they aren't a huge priority where I live. (Everyone walks around in sandals 300 days per year here.)

Much as I enjoyed the Advent Calendar... it's basically the same plot as the Sony-Award winning 'Crisp and Even Brightly' from a few years back.

Worth a listen if they repeat it

  13. Thanks for the link Shappeybunny! By the by, I was just looking at John Finnemore's Cv on his agent's site and it lists Cabin Pressure TV pilot in development! Be still my heart! I hope this is true. Any word on this, John?

    Merry Christmas John!

Thank you for making me laugh so much this year when I discovered Cabin Pressure!

I very much look forward to the 2014 flight to Zurich!

Sorry, very rudely, I just came on before and posted the alternate link and forgot to say "Happy Christmas, John!" and "Happy Christmas, one and all!" May 2014 be a rocking good year.

p.s: How come Simon & Lawry don't get Santa hats? Did the BBC only give you one? Cheapskates!

I saw this and immediately thought "I must notify John Finnemore. John Finnemore will be the only person who understands the beauty of this."

So here, my Christmas present to you is:
The 2013-2018 World Outlook for Non-Wood Office Stacking Chairs

I'm not buying it until there's at least one review, though.

  21. Yeah, but - Dumbledore likes socks.

    Dear John Finnemore,
won´t there be a recording of the final Cabin Pressure recording?

That DVD would be the best Christmas present ever.

Well, apart from the birth of my children, my wedding and the roads the Romans built for us.

    Pretty please?

    Mele Kalikimake, Mr. Finnemore!
I listened to the CP Christmas special as I got ready for work, then laughed as I realized we had a very massive yacht anchored next to us this morning (off the coast of the big Island, Hawaii.) It had a helicopter parked on it. And I think one of our passengers actually believed me when I said they were going to pick me up on my break so I can enjoy a little downtime on the islands. Instead I am over-paying for ship internet to send you this message.
Hope you have cause to smile a
    lot today!
    Mahalo!

Quick question: Does the Radio 4 advent calendar for Christmas Eve count as an official "Cain Pressure" episode? I know it was only about 5 seconds of Arthur, but ...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous7:04 pm

    1) Happy Christmas, all!

2)This is a bit random, but someone else (Rachel Vanbora) had mentioned recording the final Cabin Pressure recording and I wouldn't be able to stop myself doing a happy-dance if that happened.
I live in the United States and simply don't have the money for flying across the pond to see the final episode live. (As much as it breaks my heart)

    Anyway, I'll stop talking then!
    Cheers!
