24 Doodles - 3

This chap was sitting along from me in the British Library in June, while I was working on what became English For Pony Lovers. I've been trying to learn to be more stylistic with my drawing, which I only seem to be able to do by doing the same drawing repeatedly, only more so each time.

  1. The last drawing has a titch of a Hanna-Barbera feel, which I thoroughly enjoy. :D ❤

P.S. Isn't that how you sorta go more stylistic? Practicing on the same subject again and again? I've noticed a few doing so, anyway. . .

P.P.S. He looks a bit miffed. Did he catch you drawing him? >u>

Fascinating to see these sketches developing. The bottom one looks like a character from Tintin.

  3. Yup, that's how you do it! Unless of course you're the type who tries to go for stylization by degrees and ends up with a dozen completely identical drawings (not that I'd know anything about that). It looks like you've managed to skip that stage. :)

  5. Do you always keep an eye out for potential character inspirations when in public places John?

  7. Sorry this is rather sneaky but in the last picture there is some text visible from the opposite side of the page. With some quick photoshop trickery I was able to make out 'Maybe she does need to be 16...', '...when price is announced...', and '...at it and L lies about her...'.

I have just recently listened to English for Pony-Lovers, which I thought was fantastic.

Sorry for the aforementioned sneakyness, though if someone else would join in this conjecture that would of course make us a pair of, oh yes that joke has already been done.
