Transport of delight.

I was on a bus the other day, and I can't explain it, but some sixth sense gave me an overwhelming feeling that two of my fellow passengers had just fallen in love.

Oh, and I just thought I'd mention that voting for the Chortle Awards closes in 24 hours, at noon on Friday. Just in case you wanted to vote for anyone. Anyone at all.

    Awwwww....

Just been listening to 'Cremona' again; how many times does it take before I become a 'disturbingly loyal fan'?

  2. Vote for anyone, anyone at all who's name is Finnemore and is the most talented writer of funny stuff on the planet that is...

Fiona Pickles: We listen to Cabin Pressure every single night as we fall asleep. It's just such a happy, funny show it's great to end the day with it.

I used to do that until I started laughing before the jokes because I knew it so well.

  4. Hope you get the award, John. You're a cause of mega-chortles in this house! Quoted Arthur in "Ipswich" today to help daughter through a tough GCSE module and will probably text her a yellow car pic this afternoon.

  5. Hope there's space for the award on your mantelpiece after all the mega-chortles you've given us! Quoted Arthur in "Ipswich" to help daughter through a tough GCSE module today and will probably text her a yellow car pic too.

  7. Ah that monarch of the road,
    Observer of the Highway Code,
    That London Transport
    Diesel engined
    97 horsepower
    Omnibus!

    Hold very tight please!
    (ching ching)

"Transport for London", "Arriva" and all those other names just don't scan like the old ones...

  8. Hmmm, the Chortles don't seem to mind people voting from the USA. On the other hand I didn't recognize 95% of the acts and shows!

  9. I looked at the list of nominees, but didn't see anybody I recognised. So, I just voted for a show with the longest title. Can't remember what it's called, but I think it's got someone's name in it.

  12. Chortled and voted. Hoping to avoid Hester Macauley type reprisals. Went to Douz on a bus once but did not fall in love with anyone. The camels were brilliant though.

  13. Aw, that's sweet! Oh, alright, I'll vote for you... :-)

On an unrelated note, I was sent a list of funny worker's comp claims and I thought the following was very Martin-esque:

"In performing the job of which I am capable, I didn't know the machine was on and was showing my new helper what not to do and did."

  16. A transport of delight indeed....

There's trophy awarded for airline safety by the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators.

    And it is called:
    (drum roll)
    The Cumberbatch Trophy

...although I suspect that come series 4 the name will be less signficant.
