My favourite quote of the Christmas party season

Girl shows her friend the uncomfortable shoes she's been wearing all day.

Friend: 'God, you were shopping in those? I see what you mean!'

Girl: Yes! I wasn't exaggerating when I said I wanted to chop both my feet off!

Did I say that? I think I may have said that. They were VERY high heels.

Marianne - Yes, you did say that. I omitted your name to protect you from having all your friends laugh at your foolishness. But it's too late for that now.

Lisa - Thank you very much. Yes, it IS an inquisitive blog, isn't it? It wants to know about all sorts of stuff. Although not, sadly, about the day to day life of a park ranger.

I suspect the relationship's doomed when the boyfriend and girlfriend live in the same flat yet choose to converse via the Web.

Don't listen to him, Lisa! We can make this work!

Me too, Chang, me too. But I'm sure you agree that cyberstalking a couple of decades' worth of JF blog, both suddenly and frequently, is far more entertaining than work. It /is/ kind of self-recommending, isn't it? I can see why you'd think that. I now feel something is recommending me to listen again a few dozen times to the Dorset parody of "I've Been Everywhere, Man" from ISIHAC and try and transcribe it, even though I can't make out much of the two lines under the audience's laughter near the start when they work out what's going on. And my knowledge of Dorset is pretty limited (though becoming less so. Is there really a Whitchurch Canonicorum? That must have been challenging for the scrolly destination thingy on buses.)
